Setting Up General Questions

The General Questions feature allows administrators to configure custom screening questions and assign them to specific applicant types. Applicants can view and answer these questions during the application process. Admins can also review applicant responses from the dashboard. APIs support creation, retrieval, and management of all question types.

 

Setting Question Scope

You can define where each question will apply using the Scope component.

Supported scopes:

  • Organization

  • Province

  • State (US only)

  • Complex

  • Building

Rule: If multiple scopes overlap, the most specific level (e.g., Building) overrides others.

Assigning Applicant Types

Each question set must be assigned to one applicant type:

  • Main Applicant

  • Co-Applicant

  • Guarantor

  • All (applies to every applicant type)

Only one option can be selected.

 

Creating General Questions

Select Add Question to open the question type modal.
The system supports the following types:

True/False
  • Choose True/False type

  • Enter question text (max 200 characters)

  • Format text using Bold or Italic

  • Select whether the question is mandatory

  • Save or Cancel

Multiple Choice
  • Choose multiple-choice type

  • Enter question text (max 200 characters)

  • Add up to 5 answer options (max 20 characters each)

  • Remove options as needed

  • Select whether the question is mandatory

  • Save or Cancel (confirmation prompts appear when unsaved changes exist)

Validation: All question fields must meet character limits and required fields before saving.

How Applicants See and Answer Questions

Personal Information Page

If questions are assigned to a given applicant type, a General Questions section appears on the applicant’s Personal Information page.

Applicants can:

  • Answer questions directly

  • Edit responses

  • Save responses (mandatory questions must be answered)

If no questions are assigned, the section does not appear.

 

Expanded General Questions Page

Applicants can open the full view by clicking the edit (pen) icon.

Supported behaviors:

  • Displays all questions assigned to the applicant type

  • Supports:

    • Yes/No (radio buttons + optional explanation field, 100 characters)

    • Multiple Choice (dropdown + optional explanation field, 100 characters)

  • Dynamic scrolling for long sets

  • Auto-save or save-on-blur

  • Inline validation for required answers or character limits

     

Viewing Applicant Responses (Admin Dashboard)

Admins can review applicant answers from the dashboard.

  • Open the applicant’s card (Main, Co-Applicant, or Guarantor)

  • A General Questions section appears if responses were submitted

  • Responses are read-only

  • Questions and answers appear side by side

  • If no responses were submitted, the section is hidden or displays “No general questions answered”
